Rooms and Facilities:
Built in a peaceful and luxuriant tropical countryside on the Pacific Coast side of the isthmus of Panama, Finca La Maya hopes to serve as a muse to those who come here to teach, learn and create. The finca and workshops are located on forty tranquil acres in the small Pacific coast community of San Carlos.
The spacious rancho-style lodge is open, light and airy with varied indoor and outdoor lounging and dining areas. The central patio has a palm-roofed palapa with hammocks and a “bar”. Nearby are a coconut grove, tropical fruit orchards, and stables. Hiking/riding paths surround the property. Bedrooms are large, each with a full bath and separate air-conditioning. A separate guest casita contains two fully separate accommodations with their own baths and entrances; one has a large loft. The centralized pool and jacuzzi are a constant attraction to our guests. A putting green and driving range are also on the property. The finca is 8 minutes by car to the beach.
Participants are pampered with comfortable accommodations, and cuisine prepared by our own Panamanian chef. Continental breakfast, most lunches, and three course dinners are included in program fees. Non-participating spouses and friends are welcome. Stay longer in Panama to combine your learning experience with a fabulous vacation. Upon request, our staff is happy to arrange excursions to the numerous other local corners of the Panamanian paradise.

Air Travel:
When traveling by air, visitors generally arrive at Tocumen International Airport (PTY). Continental, Delta, Copa Airlines, American Airlines and others all have direct flights from major cities in the U.S. - particularly from Houston, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Miami. Contact a travel agent to find the most convenient flights to and from your destination. Finca La Maya can provide transportation for participants from PTY to the finca. When planning your itinerary for Panama, consider all the other fabulous things to do in this country…and you may want to plan a longer stay!
Transportation Information:
Finca La Maya offers transportation to and from Tocumen International Airport (approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes drive each way) for a modest charge of $55 each way. This transfer service is availably only with reservations in advance and on stated arrival and departure dates for sessions. Latest pickup time on arrival day is 10 pm. Flights must be booked accordingly if you will be using this service. Please note that we do NOT provide this service for downtown Panama City, other airports or other locations. We will, however be happy to arrange for a taxi to other destinations or at other times. Cab fare between Tocumen and Finca La Maya averages can be as much as $200 plus tip at the present time.
